Free tool · 🗜️ Compress PDF

Under the upload limit, without uploading it anywhere.

Government portals, job sites and banks reject PDFs over 1–2 MB. Pick a target quality, see the before/after size, download.

Private by design: the file is processed on your device with open-source JavaScript libraries. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored. Re-rendering converts each page to an image, so text is no longer selectable — use lossless re-save when the PDF came from Word or a browser.

What it does

Open-source, in your browser, no account.

Free, no sign-up, no email gate, no watermark. Your files are processed on your own device and never uploaded — open the browser network tab if you like.

  • Before/after size and percentage saved
  • Two methodslossless re-save (digital PDFs) or page re-render (scans)
  • Three quality presets plus grayscale for maximum reduction
FAQ

Common questions

Why did my digital PDF barely shrink?
Text PDFs are already compact; the big savings are in scanned pages and embedded photos. Try the re-render method if selectable text is not required.
What size do Indian portals accept?
Varies: many government and exam portals want under 1 MB or 2 MB; some ask for under 300 KB for a single page. Use Low quality + grayscale for those.
